A modern interpretation of Chevrolet's Super Sport heritage, the Chevy SS is a contemporary four-door family sedan turned sports car. It packs rear-wheel drive with a high-technology version of the legendary small-block V-8, and high-performance suspension and brakes to match. The Chevy SS, a product of GM Design's Los Angeles studio, exudes power and performance at first glance with its intense, Victory Red exterior and a reflective Cromax glass finish. The design is fluid with a short front overhang, long dash-to-axle and wide, muscular fenders providing an aggressive stance. Powerful wheel arches house 21-inch front and 22-inch rear aluminum wheels with BF Goodrich performance tires. The package also includes side gills, sporty round taillamps, through-fascia dual exhaust and a brushed stainless steel panel surrounding the taillamps.

For the past six decades the quintessential hot-rodding move has been shoving a big engine into a relatively small car. For The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, the transportation department faced the truly odd task of installing a small engine in a relatively large car. What we have here is the result of that bizarre surgery: a 1967 Ford Mustang fastback with the turbocharged 2.6-liter DOHC 24-valve straight-six from a mid-'90s Nissan Skyline GT-R between its front fenders. And it actually works well.

Dramatically different from anything that BMW has created before, the X coupe concept car challenges traditional design theory and shows a possible new direction for future BMW designs.

The Z9 gran turismo concept car features the long hood and short rear deck that have become hallmarks of BMW sport coupe design. Beneath the elegant carbon fiber body panels resides an aluminum spaceframe chassis offering both extraordinary rigidity and light weight. Large wheels - 20-inch front and 21-inch rear - provide a hint of the performance capability of the Z9's 3.9-liter V8 turbodiesel engine which delivers a stunning 413 lb-ft of torque.
